I Ask You Print This Post December 14th, 2008This one’s an easy one. It’s Christmas and my family’s in a giving mood, naturally I like my list to be full of scrumptious novels to read by the fire.
So far I’ve got:
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.
Watchmen by Alan Moore
The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling
Black Man by Richard Morgan.
The question is simple this time around:
What novels should be on my Christmas list? What novels are on your Christmas/Kwanza/Hanukkah/I’m-just-a-greedy-bastard/Holiday List?

Well, I’ve been reading the recent Del Rey reissues of Moorcock’s Elric stories, so why not start with those? Maybe Sapkowski’s latest, or perhaps Ekaterina Sedia’s novels?
As for myself, the only book I might ask my family to get for me would be Boiardo’s Orlando Inamorato, which I doubt would be popular reading fare for most reading this

I am really keen to get my grubby paws on the collected Hellboy graphic novels in a similar vein to the way the Sandman volumes were done.
Other than that, I’ve had my wishlist fulfilled thus far.
I’m actually not asking for too many books this year. I have such a huge backlog of books to get through I can’t see asking for too many more.
That being said I have asked for Joe Abercrombie’s First Trilogy as I really want to give those a try.
As a present to myself I just purchased The Gormenghast Novels by Mervyn Peake so if you haven’t already read them you may want to add that to your list.
The fiction books I want all come out in January 2009 or later, so it’s a bunch of non fiction, Roman and Medieaval History this year. And some opera DVDs because I want my very own theatre at home.
On my list would be(and my pick for best book of the year)NATION by Terry Pratchett and all the Fables collections by Bill Willingham
