The UK cover art for The Dragon Keeper, the first volume of Robin Hobb’s upcoming duology, The Rain Wild Chronicles, has surfaced:

The Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb

I can’t really say I’m a fan. Though it matches the style of the UK re-releases of her works, it pales in comparison to the John Howe art that’s been gracing her covers for years. Too bad. I’m sure the book inside will be much better!

“upcoming standalone”?! The cover you posted sez “book one of,” which sure doesn’t look like a standalone. Or do we have different definitions of “standalone”?

P.S. Sorry, just reread the synopsis you got from Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist and I guess the publisher’s the one who has a different definition of “standalone”…. ;-)

Actually, I think you’re right. Between that synopsis and the release of this cover art, the ‘Standalone’ novel was turned into two novels!

I’ll double check that and change it, if true. Thanks, Kendall.

Sorry you were disappointed with the artwork for the Rainwilds. Rest assured you will not be disappointed with the book. At the moment I am struggling through difficult times at home and the one hing that is keeping me going is themanuscript for the second of the Rainwilds Chronicles. Wonderful. Will try and do another bad cover for that one.

One thing I will say, Jackie. I’d be really curious to get these books in my hand, because that’s the only time you can truly judge a cover.
