Cover Art Print This Post August 12th, 2009News spread a week ago that the final volume in Tad William’s Shadowmarch trilogy, Shadowrise, would be split into two volumes, each only a bit smaller than the first two volumes. Not a terrible surprise, considering each of William’s series have ended up being four books (if you consider the paperback release of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn.)
Well, hot on the heels of that news comes the cover art for what is now the third volume in the tetralogy:
These days I find Todd Lockwood’s art to be a little hit-or-miss, especially his paintings that don’t include action (his strength, in my opinion), but I think this one works in an otherworldly way that Shadowplay didn’t.

Ah, so SHADOWRISE is still the title for this one? Wonder what the last one will be. SHADOWFALL would seem to be the logical choice.
You’d think Shadowfall would be a given, but it’s the title of a book by Jim Rollins, writing under his penname of James Clemens, so I expect that’s out the window. The always reliable OlafK (on the Terry Brooks forum, also on the Westeros board), is reporting that the working title for the final volume is… Shadowheart.
Unless it turns out that Shadowmarch is a sequel to Carebears, I hope it changes.
There’s actually a few books called SHADOWFALL (and SHADOWPLAY as well, which is also a well-known Joy Division song). If we can have a dozen GATHERING STORMs, I’m sure we can have more than one SHADOWFALL.
SHADOWHEART is an exceptionally lame title.
