I've heard a lot about The Magicians, but nothing about Spellwright. The cover looks very typical fantasy, with the glowing orb-thing. But the story sounds interesting and I'm not one to argue with Daniel Abraham :-)

The Magicians has gotten very, very mixed reviews. Not sure if I'll pick that one up, but I'm a huge fan of the epic fantasy, so this one seems more likely for me. Thanks for the heads-up!

Not much of a fan of the cover. It's not bad, but the wizard dude looks a bit D&D. I'm not sure what to make of the synopsis - a mix of cliche and more original ideas. One to watch I guess, though I wouldn't read much into the testimonials.

The story doesn't interest me (sounds fairly cheesy) but the testimonials are enough for me to check it out.

HATE the fonts. How can these publishers take such beautiful artwork and RUIN it with terrible cover layout and design? Just nuts, I say!

As I said on The Hotlist, I'm very interested in reading this. The testimonials only add to that. The notion of words transforming, being redefined and used as weapons against opponents (e.g. American politics) should be an interesting point of commentary in a fantasy fiction setting.
