The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan (E-Book Edition)

I was rather tepid on the cover art for the E-Book edition of The Eye of the World, but Tor Book has won all my loyalty back with the cover for The Great Hunt. An incredible re-imagining of the original Darrell K Sweet cover, Kotaki (the author I was most excited about, when these new covers were first announced) brings everything I wanted from these new covers to the classic series. If this is an indication of what’s to come, I hope Tor considers recovering the novels once the final two volumes are out (no doubt with inadequate Sweet artwork).

Cheers to Irene Gallo (art director at Tor) and Kekai Kotaki!

That’s nice – far better than the actual physical book covers.

    agreed. Great cover :D

    Aidan,

Any reasons why there have not been many, if any, book reviews on here as of late? I miss them. IT would be nice to hear more reviews. I like all the other stuff too, covers, video games, free-reading, etc…. I think the heartbeat of this site was, and should still be, your unbiased reviews of various fiction books.

    thanks for all u do,

    sean b.

I’m glad you feel that way, Sean!

There are a couple of reasons that Reviews are slow coming these days.

The major one is that my work life has been hectic and full of deadlines. That, coupled with me being a slow reader, means I’m just not finishing novels as fast as I would like.

Second, because of a busy work life, I like to use any time I have for writing to be devoted to finishing off my novel, Through Bended Grass, which is very near the end. That eats into review writing time, also.

That said, I have reviews for The Magicians by Lev Grossman and Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld in the pipeline, so look for those sooner rather than later.

This cover is awesome. I thought the original was one of the stronger covers Sweet did for the series.

THE DRAGON REBORN will be by Donato Giancola, which should be very good too.

I agree, The Great Hunt was one of the strongest by Sweet. But this one knocks it out of the water.

Can’t wait to see what Giancola brings to the table, he’s another favourite of mine.

I really like this, it looks fairly standard till you look closer. :)

Holy crap this is great. I love how it is lifted from the cheesy Sweet cover but manages to avoid making me nauseous. Well done.
