Everybody, say ‘hello’ to my new favourite artist, Julie Dillon:
And, of course, the piece of artwork that started my obsession, from Michael Swanwick’s “The Dala Horse” (published on Tor.com):
I just adore that she’s not afraid to use bold colour. It just makes me want to sit down and start writing the story of her scenes and characters. Check out her gallery and her blog for more of her terrific art.
These look absolutely astonishing!
That’s some awesome art right there! Much love!
Writing a story for a single artwork sounds like a fun idea btw!
you should do that. just 500 words or so. that screams ‘contest’!
I absolutely love Julie’s work – she’s brilliant at telling a vivid story with her images. ‘Surface’ is my stand-out favourite because along with being beautiful it just makes you want to know what’s going on.
Julie has done all the covers for my fantasy novels (the SF ones are by Simon Dominic) and I love how vivid and different from the ‘standard’ fantasy covers they are.
