A DANCE WITH DRAGONS by George R.R. Martin

Hard to believe it’s finally in our sweaty, eager hands. Due to the Canadian postal strike, I didn’t receive my review copy prior to release, so I’ll be buy the eBook version later today (just as soon as I’m off work… *blargh*).

So what’re your early (spoiler-free) thoughts?

    My spoiler free thoughts:
    It sure is heavy.
It sure is pretty. Great stamping on the jacket and the front board has nice copper stamping as well, which Bantam hasn’t done before except as a blind signature from GRRM.
The new maps are glorious. There is even a detailed map of all the castles on the Wall.

Now to get to reading. I can sense a late night tonight.

Keep your cool now. You gotta read it from start to finish, and no skipping of chapters! You can do it!

Loving it so far. I’ve to say that it’s fun going back to reading about each chapter/character style and once again it’s a real page turner, I went to bed really late yesterday doing the ol’ “one more and I’m done”, so far there past events have been nicely tied up with currents and quite frankly for me it has been the cleanest jump between novels I’ve ever read it’s like I’ve just finished Feast on monday and started on Dance on tuesday. All I can say is that it was definitely worth the wait.

Meh, Seems ok. Not as much action as I had hoped for thus far…

I hid myself from the opinion of others until I could read (and finish) the book myself, and I’m glad I did. I enjoyed the heck out of the book, and I’m puzzled by the heat it’s getting in my usual haunts. I don’t care what anyone says, I really liked Dance.
