The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick RothfussPatrick Rothfuss, acclaimed author of The Name of the Wind, has taken some flak in the recent weeks after it was announced that his second novel, The Wise Man’s Fear, would miss its April 2008 release date. This was especially aggravating when Rothfuss and his publisher, DAW, indicated that the second and third books were finished even before they signed Rothfuss.

Well, Rothfuss has come out with a post on his official blog about the matter and, to be frank, if the delay doesn’t seem fair after reading the reasoning behind it, you’ve no heart at all.

You can find the whole explanation HERE.

My best wishes go out to Pat and his family and I, for one, will be as patient as needed to give Pat the time he needs to make the novel as perfect as possible.

[…] Aiden has a news on the sequel one of last years debut highlights. Patrick Rufus next novel, The Wise Man’s Fear, isn’t coming out until 2009 as life sadly didn’t allow him to finish it. He explains the situation on his blog. I’m looking forward to reading the paperback release of The Name of the Wind (out, according to Amazon.co.uk. 12th June). […]

Thanks for linking to this. Pat is the man and I wish him all the best. As someone said in the comments, if we can wait 4 years for GRRM, we can definitely wait 1 for Pat. He is an author I put up there with the Holy Trio of RJ, and GRRM.

I lost my job and in my dailey search which has been more disappointment than promise any escape is welcome but difficult to attain. I read the reviews for The Name of The Wind and decided to put down the $7.99 rather than wait until I could get it from the library. I have no regets in spending the money and will do so again for The Wise Man’s Fear whenever you feel it has matured to the point you can let it go.

I originally found Name of the Wind in a Thrift Store book bin for $1. I actually find alot of books there and have discovered some really good authors this way, The books i find tend to be older so when I found The Name of the Wind i read it and was loving it so at the end I quickly jumpe donline to order the rest of the series and to my HORROR discovered that the book had only been in print for 2 months :) So well, all i’m just saying that I am eager for the Wise Man’s Fear and it can’t come soon enough, I will drop anything i’m reading and pick it up ASAP when it gets published.
