Can’t really comment on the synopsis, given that I’ve only read the first seven volumes of the series, but it was written by Harriet McDougal, Jordan’s widow and Wheel of Time overlady, and will appear on both the Tor and Orbit Books editions of A Memory of Light.
The cover itself is pretty, and fitting for the title of the novel, after all the previous volumes were black. It’s simple and classic, if predictable. Good enough for me.
The UK cover is phenomenally dull, just like the rest of the series UK covers. It may be a rather cynical thought but it seems like since the publishers know the book will sell anyway that they can get away without having to pay a freelance artist for a cover.
@Locusmortis LOL. It’s true that they’re boring, but I don’t really like the US cover art either. Something about them seems too… overdone, I guess? As if they’re trying a little too hard to be epic. I know I’m in the minority here, but if you line up the covers side by side there’s a uniformity to the UK art that the US seems to lack; it’s a little all over the place. *shrug* Just my two cents.
