Web Design

Below you will find a portfolio of web sites I've worked on over the past couple of years. I've listed them chronologically, and you should be able to see the progression of my abilities as a web designer. I'm proud of all of them and hopefully you see something you like!

My rates for Web Design are fair and negotiable, feel encouraged to contact me and we can work something out!

Calico Cat Tea House - 2007

Calico Cat Tea House

The Calico Cat Tea House is a well known, Nanaimo area tea house that's famous for its world-class tea leaf readers and amazing menu. It was a great opportunity getting to work with them and create a web site that would help them serve their customters better. My favourite thing about working on this web site was having the freedom to adapt the funky, sophisticated tone of the tea house into a web site. I feel like I did a good job representing the tea house and the terrific atmosphere they strive for. Visually, the design of this web site is one of my favourites, despite (or pehaps because of) its simplicity.

Ballenas Secondary School - 2007

Ballenas Secondary School

This website is the end result of a lot of hard work between myself and my classmates.

In the last semester of my program, we worked on a real world web site, doing a complete redesign for Ballenas Secondary School in Parksville, BC, Canada. The client was extremely happy with the result and so were we. We built our own CMS (Content Management System) from the ground up! I was in charge of the team management and html/css/layout of the website itself.

My teammates and I really poured a lot of ourselves into this web site and learned more than we thought possible about web design and development. We could not be more proud of the final product and cannot wait to see where it takes Ballenas Secondary School!

I should also note that me and the rest of Team Mediate received the highest mark in the program, not an easy feat!

The old version of my web site

This is the old version of my web site, which I had a great time designing. I chose a colour scheme that really appealed to me (blue and brown) and ran with it! I think in the end that Version 1 of my web site was a bit too busy and so when it came time for a redesign I chose a simpler layout and a look and colours that better reflect who I am today.

That being said, I'm very proud of Version 1 of the web site and feel that it is a good look at how my skills and design sense have developed over the course of the year. Version 1 shows off the skills I've acquired in a few different coding languages, including Javascript.

As proud as I was/am of Version 1, I think the version of the web site you are looking at now is even better! I hope you agree!

Quatrain Four - 2006

The Quatrain Four Web Site

In the first semester of the Digital Media Technologies program the group was divded into groups and each group was in charge of creating a full prototype web site for the Media Studies Department. My team was Quatrain Four. As a group we thought it would show commitment to our cause if we created an official web site which we could use to show ourselves off to our client. I was the bloke in charge of creating this web site and what you'll find at the link below is the result.

It was a challenge to create a web site that was not only professional, but that also captured the essence of our young team. But, with the logo designed by our Graphic Artist as a basis, I think I was able to achieve that goal.
