\nSpeculative Fiction 2012: The Best Online Reviews, Essays and Commentary announced its lineup of contributors, Wednesday. Edited by bloggers Justin Landon (Staffer\u2019s Book Review- US) and Jared Shurin (Pornokitsch \u2013 UK), SpecFic \u201912 collects over fifty pieces from science fiction and fantasy\u2019s top authors, bloggers and critics.<\/p>\n
Author and podcasting sensation Mur Lafferty, whose newest novel The Shambling Guide to New York City is due out from Orbit Books this Spring, has agreed to write the foreword. \u201cLafferty\u2019s writing career germinated online. She\u2019s been a pioneer in the space and understands why the work in this book is so important. She\u2019s the perfect person to put it into context,\u201d said Landon.<\/p>\n
Landon and Shurin also announced that they will pass the torch in 2013, establishing a precedent of rotating editors every year. The 2013 volume will be edited by Thea James and Ana Grilo of The Book Smugglers. Shurin commented, \u201cWe\u2019re excited to see this move forward with Thea and Ana. They have a great perspective on the genre community that\u2019s also very different from our own. 2013 couldn\u2019t be in better hands. I\u2019m really looking forward to working with them as Jurassic London continues to publish the series.\u201d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’m quite thrilled to not only be included, but to have also published two other pieces that will appear in the collection. Who and which pieces? Well, you’ll just have to read the collection to find out!<\/p>\n
It’s a very strong list of writers, and I’m please to noticed several names that I’m unfamiliar with. Exposing readers to new writers is one of the express purposes of this collection, and I’m already on my way to broadening my online reading habits. So, good. News that Ana and Thea at The Book Smugglers will be editing the collection next year is also some very happy news, and I’m certain they will do a wonderful job carrying on where Jared and Justin left off and continuing to grow the collection into an important yearly publication.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
