\u201cAre you sure you can keep up?\u201d Corvis asked, concerned.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs long as you don\u2019t have the poor beast galloping the entire way, yes.\u201d Davro actually huffed. \u201cThe day a healthy ogre can\u2019t outlast a horse is the day I hang up my sword for good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUmm, Davro, you tried that already. That\u2019s why I found you herding pigs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, shut up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Corvis, his head bobbing slightly with Rascal\u2019s methodical gait, watched around him as the ground passed beneath their feet. The grasses glowed with a jade sheen in the light of the afternoon sun, and the grazing animals watched them pass with a minimum of alarm. Clearly the beasts of this place had few worries or concerns. The trees, though sporadic, were tall, their leaves thick in the full bloom of health. A few white clouds drifted over the mountains, casting enormous shadows upon the valley.<\/><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a beautiful place you picked to live,\u201d Corvis admitted. \u201cI\u2019m surprised there isn\u2019t a settlement here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t get any ideas, Rebaine. I like it nice and empty.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRelax, Davro. I\u2019m not moving in, just commenting. And I promise you, I\u2019ll do my best to get you back here just as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy, how kind of you. That\u2019s so considerate, I could just squat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to make conversation,\u201d Corvis protested. \u201cTo make the journey go faster.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI see. You know what\u2019s even better than trying to make conversation?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNot trying to make conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps I\u2019ll be quiet, then.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMiracles do happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Corvis, deciding he wasn\u2019t apt to get the better of this particular conversation, chose to watch the miles and the scenery pass in silence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
