Last week, I broke the seal by releasing the first look at Daniel Abraham’s The Dragon’s Path<\/strong>, the first volume of his much-anticipated new series, The Dagger and the Coin<\/em>. You can read the prologue here<\/a>. To celebrate the launch of his new website<\/a>, Abraham has posted the first chapter of the novel, giving readers their first look at Captain Marcus Wester, one of the three main characters from the novel.<\/p>\n

Marcus rubbed his chin with a callused palm.<\/p>\n

\u201cYardem?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSir?\u201d rumbled the Tralgu looming at his side.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe day you throw me in a ditch and take command of the company?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, sir.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t be today, would it?\u201d<\/p>\n

The Tralgu crossed his thick arms and flicked a jingling ear.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, sir,\u201d he said at last. \u201cNot today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPity.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
