I’ve not read Hamilton’s work, so I can’t comment on the tone of the covers (which I’ve heard are a little off, at least in regards to the less militaristic nature of Pandora’s Star and Judas Unchained), but I’ve always felt that Steve Stone’s art is better suited for Science Fiction than Fantasy, though browsing his portfolio shows some impressive work.
It’s always weird to see the same author done by different houses simultaneously….

The Stone covers are great, especially the first one, now THATS proper sci-fi art.
When it comes to the Nights Dawn books the original Jim Burns covers were far far better http://nightsdawn.tripod.com/nakedgod.jpg
I absolutely hate when publishers replace good painted covers with boring generic covers like the new Nights Dawn ones for second or subsequent printings, it definitely puts me off purchasing when they do that.
