Terry Goodkind, writer and designerFound this at Only the Best Science Fiction & Fantasy (which was previously gathered from the Official Terry Goodkind forums):

Terry Goodkind’s new Richard and Kahlan novel will be called The Omen Machine (2011), according to the Fan Forum admin, who is actually Terry himself, sort of. Other relvelant facts about the forthcoming Sword of Truth book:

The official book’s title is THE OMEN MACHINE

The novel will be released simultaneously in all ebook formats, including iBooks, Kindle and Nook.

The novel takes place immediately following the end of CONFESSOR.

It is a Richard and Kahlan novel in the truest sense of the word.

The cover artwork will be revealed soon. It was designed by Terry Goodkind and Rob Anderson.

I don’t care about the title, nor that it takes place after Confessor (I mean, really, who cares about final volumes anymore? They’re so passe), the real news here is that Terry Goodkind helped design the cover for his next novel. Not only is he a writer non-Fantasy, a maker of violins and a collector of rare and exotic artifacts, he’s also now a graphic designer. As with his fiction, I’m sure he will produce a cover that transcends the genre and is nothing short of a piece of culture defining art.

I’ve never been more ravenous for a leaked cover.

I must see this cover! Please!

Also, if this is true, how in the blue hell did Tor sign off on this? Irene Gallo rocks as Art Director and, well, should get to direct art and stuff.

That is a very, very good question, Joe.

Agree 100% with you Joe. Seems sort of nuts that TG had a hand in it… Maybe its just a picture of his beard.

Money, that’s it. His stuff sells*, and TOR can use the money to buy some novels of new authors. So for what’s worth, Goodkind can keep writing Richard and Kahlan novels for the next 20 years, if that gives me – and Aidan – a contract, too. :P

    * At least the non-Fantasy does; the Literary Non-SciFi Disguised as UF Version of a Richard And Kahlan Story obviously didn’t. ;)

I love that look he gets. The one where he stares out into space like God left him in charge of civilization.

Also, I really hope the cover incorporates “important human themes” that involve Richard being ball-gagged and tied up with in a sex swing.

    I laughed … I cried … but mostly I laughed.

he’s gonna work the phrase “Ce n’est pas un fantaisie” onto his cover, right?

Wow. Hmm. Let me correct a few of your “facts”.
    1) He *restored* rare and exotic artifacts, not collects.
    2) He was also an accomplished wildlife artist, so I don’t think that him designing the cover is outside the realm of reasonable possibility.

Just FYI, it’s called “research”. Thank you for proving the first part of Wizard’s First Rule.
