Don’t know if you found this at Letters of Note or elsewhere, but for those who want to read more in the same line, http://www.lettersofnote.com/2011/05/library-is-many-things.html is a good place to start. For context, the children’s librarian at the then newly opened Troy Public Library asked many prominent personages to write a letter to the children of Troy in connection to the opening of the library; Asimov’s is one of 97 responses. I rather like E.B. White’s as well, and Dr. Seuss’ is predictably classic.
Awesome

I liked E.B White’s:
“A library is many things. It’s a place to go, to get in out of the rain.”
I’ve done that a few times!
Very cool… thanks for sharing!
