And the full artwork:
Seriously, with the reveal of Joe Abercrombie’s The Heroes, this has been a bloody good day for cover art. Kraken‘s been blessed with some great cover art already (US/UK), but this one easily takes the cake. Just gorgeous artwork from Vincent Chong, and another wonderful design from the folk at Subterranean Press.
This cover truly is a work of art. Beautiful!!
NEED. TO. HAVE. IT. NOW!!!
That is absolutely incredible. I have to fight the urge to buy it, even with the standard (quite awesome) cover sitting on my desk.
I’ve never read anything by Mieville, but that cover along might just be enough to influence a purchase.

This makes me almost sad I bought the UK Edition. Lovely as it is, this one is even more beautiful.

Wrap it up in tentacled-leather and stick Kraken in my library. Miéville defies all drum & bass beat stereotypes of the surreal city sides. Here he embraces the devout squid worshipers almost Torchwood like, tiff in the constraining seriousness of the New Weird w/ Billy & the Architeuthis in another alternative London of cults and magic (Egnaro, anyone?).The puns, injokes & pop-cultural references are pure pleasure. Yes. the cover art is fantastic, but the writing is the true fantasy – whimsical & weird-wired.
