The cover art to be used on Eldon Thompson’s third novel has just been released and I think it’s pretty damn cool.

The Divine Talisman by Eldon Thompson

The painting (click on it to see a bigger version) was done by Kovecks, who also handled the artwork for Eldon’s first two novels.

Eldon is a good friend of mine and I’ve always been a big fan of his covers! If you’re into epic, coming-of-age fantasy with some nice twists on the formula, be sure to check out Eldon’s first two novels, The Crimson Sword and The Obsidian Key!

You can check out my interview with Eldon HERE.

I thought this was pretty cool. The cover art for Alan Campbell’s latest novel, Iron Angel was just released. The art was done by Steven Youll, who’s done about a million other SF/F covers!

The cover art for Iron Angel by Alan Campbell

Alan Campbell, who’s first novel is Scar Night, is someone I’ve wanted to check out for a while now and was strongly considered for each of my Changing of the Guard articles (One, Two, Three). In any case, my friend passed this along and I thought some of you Campbell fans might be interested!

The Ancient by R.A. SalvatoreI’m a HUGE fan of R.A. Salvatore’s DemonWars Saga and anything related to it. I still rank the fourth novel, Mortalis among one of the most engaging and emotionally charged novels I’ve ever read. So, it’s understandable that I was pretty darn excited when I saw this on Remy’s Blog.

The new cover art was just released for the latest novel set in the world of Corona. Here’s what Salvatore’s official web site has to say about it:

‘The Ancient cover art has arrived. The Ancient is the first book in the Saga of the First King trilogy. This brand new book, due out in early 2008, takes place in Corona and continues the story of The Highwayman. This is the first book in a new publishing deal that New York Times Best-Selling author signed with TOR books.

For fans not familiar with the Highwayman novel a re-release will be out in paperback this year!

R.A. Salvatore’s prelude to the Demon Wars Sagas The Highwayman is a stimulating ride into the early history of Corona and the vehicle is the creation a new, Drizzt-rivaling hero. Salvatore spins the tragic tale of an Abellican missionary who returns to Honce from the desert land Behr with wonders from the ancient Jhesta Tu monastery. At his side is his wife, a Jhesta Tu mystic. His dreams of uniting the teachings of the Jhesta Tu and “The Church of Blessed Abelle” are broken against the realities of bigotry and the young Abellican Church’s struggle for political favor against the Druid-like Samhaists. But from their doomed union will rise a people’s hero–the Highwayman.’

I can’t be the only one that’s super excited for this novel!

The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
I don’t usually worry about “The News” here at A Dribble of Ink (there are usually many better places to go for that!), but I thought this was too cool to pass up! I just noticed that both the Pats (Rothfuss and Mr. Fantasy Hotlist) just posted the cover to Patrick Rothfuss’s next novel, due out early next year. The Name of the Wind, Rothfuss’ first novel, is one of my favourite novels I’ve read this year and on top of that I have to thank my two part interview with Pat (Part One, Part Two) for really helping me draw visitors here to A Dribble of Ink in its infancy, so he and his novels hold a special place in my heart!

In any case, here to the left is the cover of Patrick’s next novel, The Wise Man’s Fear, the sequel to his successful first novel, The Name of the Wind (you can find my review HERE). I was one of the few that actually seemed to like the cover art for his first novel, but even I will admit that the cover art for the The Wise Man’s Fear trounces all over that of The Name of the Wind! I think the most significant thing to note is that this time around apparently it’s going to be “A Novel”, as opposed to whatever The Name of the Wind was…

Pat runs a highly amusing blog (HERE) where you can be sure to find all the up-to-date information on him, his books and his zany life. Be sure to check it out!
